Add displays and voice announcements to an existing lift

Lift Displays reads the signals the existing lift already produces — floor position, travel direction and, where available, door status — through isolated inputs. It converts those signals into a live display and a spoken announcement at every landing and inside the car. The existing controller is left exactly as it is.

Because nothing in the lift's safety chain is altered, the lift does not need to be recommissioned as a control system; the work is limited to fitting the panels and connecting them to the signals already present. See EN 81-20, the lift safety standard.

A refurbishment is planned before anyone is on site. You set every floor label, choose the voice announcements and lay out each panel in the online configurator, then upload the finished configuration to the master unit. Commissioning is reduced to fitting the panels and uploading — there is no programming with specialist tools at the lift.

Older lifts frequently lack the audible and visual signalling that newer accessibility guidance expects. Retrofitting Lift Displays is a straightforward way to add both, along with voice calling for hands-free access. Passengers get a clear indication of which floor the car is at and where it is heading, announced in speech and shown on screen — particularly valuable for visually impaired users and in busy public buildings, in line with EN 81-70.

A refurbishment is intrusive only where it has to be. The panels mount in place of, or alongside, the existing indicators, and connect back to a single master unit using one standard network cable. Extending the system to another landing is a plug-in operation, so a multi-floor building can be fitted progressively without rewiring each time.
